What a Creep Season 10, Episode 8: Jim Bakker

Jim Bakker and his wife Tammy Faye Bakker were the most famous televangelists in America in the 1970s and ‘80s with “The PTL Club” and a Heritage USA theme park. They lived a lavish lifestyle with several houses, fancy cars, and more money than God.

Jim Bakker also misused funds to try to cover up a sexual assault. What a creep!

What a Creep Season 10, Episode 7: Billy McFarland

On April 28, 2017, a tweet blew up the Internet from Trevor DeHaas, @trev4president with a picture of a very sad bread and cheese meal saying “Here’s the dinner they fed us tonight. Literally slices of bread, cheese, and salad with no dressing #fyrefraud #fyrefestival #dumpsterfyre

This was day one of the Fyre Festival fraud perpetrated by 25-year old Fyre Media CEO & Founder Billy McFarland. Hundreds of people were stranded, millions of dollars were borrowed and never paid back. Here is the story of one of the biggest (and youngest) frauds we have covered on this show.

What a Creep Season 10, Episode 5: Larry Nassar

Larry Nassar is one of the biggest creeps we have ever covered—which is really saying something. There have been a few times in the last 20 years where the media has talked about sexual abuse against young athletes—specifically in gymnastics which has competitors who begin the sport in their elementary school years.

Most people first learned of Dr. Larry Nassar in 2016 when he was publicly charged for possessing child pornography & tampering with evidence.  (Those are the formal charges.)

But the sport has several times in the past several decades was made aware of the problem of trainers, advisors, and doctors sexually assaulting participants as young as 6 years old. To say nothing was done would be an understatement.

Why did Larry Nassar finally come to justice? And who else was punished because of cruelty, abuse, and/or just turning a blind eye? That is our story today.

What a Creep Update: Piers Morgan & Sharon Osbourne

Our special replay episode features Britain’s Piers Morgan who was a subject in our first season. From phone-hacking scandals and fat-shaming to racism and sexism, TV host Piers Morgan is a professional troll, who got his creepy career started working for Rupert Murdoch at News Of The World yet still somehow found a way to sink even lower.

Due to his leaving his cushy job Good Morning Britain and calling Meghan Markle a liar–we needed to revisit this Creep!

Now Sharon Osbourne is in a full PR nightmare due to her argument with fellow The Talk co-host Sheryl Underwood over Piers’s actions. Turns out Sharon has some accusations from former co-hosts like Leah Remini and Holly Robinson Peete who both say she used racial slurs off stage from the talk show.

What a Creep Season 10, Episode 2: Johnny Carson

Johnny Carson was known as the King of Late Night with NBC’s The Tonight Show which he hosted between 1962-1992.

Johnny was famous for being suave, handsome, married a few times, liking a drink in the evenings, and having feuds with random people. He was a man who could talk in front of 20 million a night but if he had to have a conversation with 10 people—he was so awkward that it would make the experience uncomfortable for everyone.

His legacy is he was one of the best television performers of all time. Behind the scenes, he was known for being shy and awkward and could carry a grudge that lasted for decades. Some of that behavior puts him in the Creep category which is why he is the subject of our show today.

What a Creep Season 10, Episode 1: Tabloid creeps (Joey Buttafuoco & John Wayne Bobbitt)

Joey Buttafuoco

The name alone became a punchline—Buttafuoco!

In the summer of 1992, America was obsessed with this trashy tale from Long Island about a murderous teenager and her dumb, muscle pants-wearing lover.

This scandal had everything, sex, escort services, autobody shops, a Howard Stern interview, and secret videotapes which the tabloid media covered breathlessly for over a year.

Trigger Warnings: Sexual assault, grooming, and gun violence

John Wayne Bobbitt

In 1993, the John Wayne and Lorena Bobbitt scandal was a tabloid dream come true. After suffering years of physical, emotional, and sexual abuse, Lorena cut off John’s penis. It was a sensational story, but what we missed in all the coverage was the fact that John Wayne Bobbitt was an abusive prick.

What a Creep Season 9, Episode 10: Marilyn Manson

For over 25 years rocker Marilyn Manson has enjoyed a reputation as being one of the darkest theatrical performers in the rock space. He has sold millions of records, has multiple Grammy Award nominations, been the subject of massive protests around the world all while enjoying an acting career and a reputation for dating beautiful women.

He also turns out to be a massive creep who has preyed on women for decades and is only now facing the consequences of truly horrible behavior. This is one of those “hiding in plain sight” types of stories. He was not playing a disgusting human—he really is one and hopefully, his reign of taking advantage of people is over.

What a Creep Season 9, Episode 9: Free Britney (Justin Timberlake, Jamie Spears, and more)

We definitely have a schedule for our shows, but we’re more than happy to move things around when the world is indicating for us to do so.

The Hulu/FX documentary “Framing Britney Spears” created such a need in both of us to talk about the state of her father’s control over her entire life. Since 2008, her father, Jamie Spears, has taken control over everything from her health decisions, to work schedules to the care of her two children.

Apparently, Britney has not seen the documentary but is planning to release her own which brings us total glee!

Trigger warnings: Mental health, misogyny, and Justin Timberlake.
