Dan White was a city supervisor in San Francisco in 1978. After a disagreement with the mayor and his fellow supervisors, he brought a gun into City Hall and murdered two people: Mayor George Moscone and Supervisor Harvey Milk, the country’s first openly gay man ever elected to office and a famous figure in the national gay rights movement.
